Summary: On June 20, 2018, the Perris Union High School District Board of Trustees approved the new job description for the Coordinator of Safety and Security position and authorized recruitment. At its regular meeting on April 17, 2019, the Board approved the update of the job description from Coordinator of Safety and Security to Coordinator of Security and designated the Superintendent as the immediate supervisor. No other substantive changes to job duties were made. The Board of Trustees approved the update for the job title from Coordinator of Security to Director of Security at its regular meeting on January 15, 2020. The position was not assigned any new responsibilities. There were no other changes. During the 2022-23 school year, Eric Hall & Associates completed a management compensation study for the Perris Union High School District. Regarding the Director of Security, the recommendation read, “No change in salary range allocation is recommended due to insufficient data. However, if PUHSD has difficulty recruiting or retaining incumbents in this position, an increase to the current pay range may be necessary.” Although there have been changes to the title, there have been no changes to the salary other than the increases provided to all other management positions within the Perris Union High School District. To provide equity and recruit/retain qualified candidates, staff recommends changing the position from Director - Security to Director IV - Security and increasing the salary to Salary Schedule #250, Row 4, equal to all other Director IV positions within the Perris Union High School District.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2023-24 operating budget funded through the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Salary Equity Adjustment for Director of Security to Director IV - Security.
