Summary:

The District entered into an Agreement with Next Careers to be a league host for the 2022 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifier Tournament. On October 20, 2021, the Board approved the Agreement with Next Careers to be a league host for the 2021-22 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). This Agreement allows the District to host the Qualifying tournament (QT) on February 5, 2022, and February 6, 2022, at Heritage High School. The QT will decide whether or not teams will move on to the Los Angeles Championships in Monrovia. Each event will have 24 teams, possibly coming from as far as Ventura, Palmdale, Thousand Oaks, and as close as Hemet and Temecula. Perris has been participating with FTC for nine (9) years now and has grown from three (3) teams to as many as fifteen (15), with up to one hundred and fifty (150) students participating district-wide. The term of the Agreement shall be from January 1, 2022, through February 28, 2022. This item is being brought before the Board as ratification due to the receipt of this Agreement from FIRST Tech Challenge organization to host a qualifier tournament event, post FIRST Tech Challenge competition.
