Summary:
|
The Perris Union High School District entered into an Agreement with Next Careers to be a league host for the 2023-24 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). Student teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. During the competitions, students must also present to a judging panel. Teams also raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Students have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships. Each season concludes with Championships and the possibility of moving on to the exciting FIRST World Championship.
Perris has been participating with FTC for eleven (11) years and has grown from three (3) teams to as many as 15, with up to 150 students participating district-wide.
The term of the Agreement shall be from September 1, 2023, through January 30, 2024.
This item is being brought before the Board as ratification due to the need to enter into a contract for the purpose of volunteer training before the first league meet to be held on October 21, 2023. |
