Perris High School’s (PHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator Melanie Yates is planning the annual Northern California college trip for PHS AVID Seniors. The dates of the trip are October 21-25, 2024. Approximately forty (40) students and four (4) adult chaperones will be visiting between fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) college campuses over the five (5) day, four (4) night trip. The list of colleges/universities is as follows: Cal State University Northridge, Cal State University Channel Islands, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State University Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, Chico State University, UC Berkeley, State University East Bay, San Francisco State University, Dominican University, Sacramento State University, Sacramento State University, Cal State Stanislaus, UC Merced, Fresno State University, Cal State University Bakersfield.
The trip's purpose is to introduce students to different campuses. Some schools in Northern California offer diverse educational opportunities. After visiting a campus, Perris High School AVID students are more willing to leave home. Our District has a significant representation of former AVID students on many northern campuses. This trip is essential to building the college and career culture at PHS.
This is coming forward as a revision because of the addition of sophomores. |
