Summary:

On December 13, 2023, the Board of Trustees approved Amendment No. 7 to the Master Architectural Services Agreement with PJHM Architects for the design and planning to add relocatable (“portable”) classrooms to the Liberty High School Campus for additional classroom facilities. The Liberty High School Portables Addition Project (“the project”) consists of the addition of six (6) portables on the north side of the campus directly behind the O Building and an additional eight (8) portables to be located in the small parking lot adjacent to the home side concession stand, for a total of fourteen (14) portable classrooms. These will be installed in two phases, with the first phase (6 portables) being placed and ready for use at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. The staff has worked with Unified Modular to procure a proposal for the first six (6) portables. This proposal provides six (6) refurbished portable classrooms which are completely rebuilt to new condition. This purchase includes only the portables to be installed as part of the first phase of this project. PJHM is currently working to plan and design the site work, utilities, and fencing reconfiguration, which has to be approved by the Division of State Architect's Office (“DSA”) and will be bid separately from the purchase of the portables.
The District would like to utilize piggybacking for this purchase. The adoption of Resolution No. 17:23-24 would allow the use of the Garvey School District Contract, bid number 054:22/23, and all subsequent renewals pursuant to Education Code Sections 17596 and 81644 (“Garvey Contract”), as awarded to Unified Modular Corporation (“Supplier”) for the purchase. The cost to purchase six (6) classroom portables for Liberty High School with this contract will be $584,308.30. This resolution stipulates the total cost of said purchase as well as determines that minor installation costs of 15% are incidental to the total amount to be paid by the District under the Garvey Contract.
The term of this Agreement is from May 18, 2023, through May 17, 2024, contingent on annual renewals of a five (5) year term contract upon mutual agreement between Garvey School District and Supplier. |
