Summary:
|
On March 12, 2024, the Parties met and concluded that increasing contributions toward the costs of health and welfare benefits was not feasible at that time. The District had implemented significant cost-saving measures and reductions in personnel and programs. As an alternative, new benefit plan options were introduced, offering lower-cost alternatives to help offset the rising costs of existing plans.
On September 5, 2024, the Parties successfully reached an agreement to increase the District’s contributions toward health and welfare benefits. This agreement reflects the shared interest of both Parties in addressing the rising costs of healthcare for classified employees.
With the start of the new plan year on July 1, 2024, health and welfare premiums increased substantially, leading to higher payroll deductions for CSEA employees. In response, both Parties used an interest-based approach during negotiations to explore options that would continue to provide high-quality, cost-effective health and welfare benefits for classified staff.
The details of the agreement are provided in the attached document. |
